gastro mk is born
Andrew West is head chef of gastro mk, the new fine-dining part of maison mk. He worked for Gordon Ramsay at Claridges for 3 years & is a young, creative chef. He will be bringing gastronomic seven-course tasting dinners to maison mk from September. We can't wait to get him started in the kitchens - he arrived on the 1st June & is ready to deliver modern cuisine & intense flavours. More information to follow soon...
new restaurants
Another little restaurant find that we want to bring to you is Un Dejeuner a Marrakech. Near Palais Bahia, the charming Fatima is serving beautifully presented food in a modern café setting deep in the medina. Home-made tartes, salads, tagines, pannacottas, etc with a very pretty presentation. Prices are about 12 euros for 2 courses - good to have another nice place to go for lunch in the Medina.

We are just jumping into the Twitter / Facebook / LinkedIn social media world. Click on the icons in this newsletter to follow us. We were really active on the blog whilst we were building the riad, but then let it dwindle. Well, we are back with gusto so please folllow us & let us know what you think. yoga retreat at mk
We have just had our first yoga retreat at maison mk. Six ladies yoga-ing their hearts out on the roof terrace (not sure if yoga-ing is the correct technical term)
Lots of yoga sessions hosted by French expert, Sylvie, lots of spa treatments, lots of good food & drink, and lots of talking - the perfect yummy-mummy weekend.
sex and the city 2
Those of you reading my blog already know about SATC and Pauline, our manager. Our chic manager was offered the job of body double for Miranda during filming of SATC 2 last year, but it came at a really busy time for maison mk so we (I !) sadly had to say no. Would have meant long hours standing on set whilst they practiced lighting, etc but still a fun job - sorry Pauline !

jamie does...m'kech
Hope you all saw it & recognised our roof terrace. We not only survived the cutting room floor, but ended up being a big part of the TV programme, so that was great. We will be putting together a few recipes based on what Jamie did at maison mk & also Andrew West, our new chef, will be starting advanced cooking lessons from September.
ash clouds
We have all now had to become experts on Icelandic volcanoes & wind patterns. Fortunately it has not affected too many of our clients - a few were stuck in Marrakech (lucky !) and a few were stuck in the UK (not so lucky !). What we are offering clients that have booked , but cannot fly due to the ash cloud, is a '100% credit note' for a new holiday during 2010. So you get a new booking for free & we pick up the cost.

Aoibheann & I recently shot together on a truly stunning wedding in Surrey. Dressed by the Emmanuels, flower-powered by Robbie Honey, fed by Absolute Taste, and entertained by Flood the Floor.
